It was only a matter of time until more “Kinect” type devices start hitting the market.

The Leap is a small iPod sized USB peripheral that creates a 3D interaction space of 8 cubic feet to precisely interact with and control software on your laptop or desktop computer. It’s like being able to reach into the computer and pull out information as easily as reaching into a cookie jar.

The Leap senses your individual hand and finger movements independently, as well as items like a pen. In fact, it’s 200x more sensitive than existing touch-free products and technologies. It’s the difference between sensing an arm swiping through the air and being able to create a precise digital signature with a fingertip or pen.”

Tesla Model X Touchscreen Interface

I agree with Mark’s deductions and opinions.  Missing the tactile feedback of a knob does not afford the user to keep there eyes on the road.  Voice recognition and gestures IMHO is the safest way beyond touch, either knob or touch, to interact with information while driving.

Here’s what I love about the touchscreen dashboard in the Tesla Model X automobile: it’s a touchscreen device. And here’s what I hate about it: it’s a touchscreen device.

I can think of a number of functional benefits of having a touchscreen dashboard in an automobile. But I believe…

TeuxDeux.  Love the simple interface, and the call outs to help you get started.

From the site ” TeuxDeux is a simple, designy to-do app and the first collaboration between studiomates swissmiss and Fictive Kin. If you like making to-do lists, you will love TeuxDeux.”

"Don’t assume that users know as much about your site as you do. They always have difficulty finding information, so they need support in the form of a strong sense of structure and place. Start your design with a good understanding of the structure of the information space and communicate this structure explicitly to the user."

E.C.I  Elephant Computer Interaction.

The intelligence of our machines coupled with elegant, intuitive interfaces could optimistically  bridge the communication gap between humans and animals.  I love this so much.

First Impressions Count in Website Design

The
“halo effect” of that emotional first
impression carries over to cognitive
judgments of a web site’s other
characteristics including usability and
credibility.
