Karel Teige on commercial design:

  1. Freedom from tradition and prejudice. Eliminating decorativism.
  2. Using clearly legible, geometrically simple typefaces.
  3. Fulfilling the particular demands of each job.
  4. Balancing of space and clear, geometrically organized layout.
  5. Exploiting new technologies to create ‘typofoto’
  6. Close collaboration of the designer and printer
